Yogurt Power Bowl

June 15, 2018 by Christina

It’s been a while since I have written a proper blog post! There have been a lot of hectic and exciting things going on in my personal life lately, and I have let my busy schedule get the best of me. It’s times like these, especially, that I opt for quick and easy meals that are still delicious. As far as breakfast/brunch is concerned, some of my favorite quick options are oatmeal, leftover tofu scramble, avocado toast, and, lately, this yogurt bowl. This is not as much of a recipe as it is a meal idea for those of us who desire to throw together a meal that is rich in nutrients, protein, and fiber in under 5 minutes. The bowl is completely customizable, but my favorite ingredients are:

Coconut or soy yogurt: rich in gut-friendly probiotics and calcium for bone health. I would love try to make my own some day, but there are plenty of great brands available to buy as well!

Protein powder: to balance with the carbohydrates in the bowl to help you stay fuller and satisfied for longer, and add a boost of flavor.

Ground flaxseed: for essential fatty acids and fiber.

Bananas: full of antioxidants, fiber, potassium, and magnesium to contribute nutrition in addition to their naturally sweet flavor.

Hemp seeds: another source of protein, along with all of the essential amino acids, iron, zinc, vitamin E, more essential fatty acids, and phytonutrients.

My love, peanut butter: to deliver even more protein, heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, antioxidant vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin B6.I also enjoy topping this off with pieces of a protein bar to add additional protein, texture, and delicious flavor to the bowl. As you will see in the recipe, I tend to favor my beloved chocolate-peanut butter-banana flavor combination, but I encourage you to play around with the flavors and make this recipe your own! This power bowl makes for an ideal breakfast to fuel a long day, or a satisfying post-workout recovery meal for any time! Enjoy!
